Concussion Sport Specific Return to Play Guidelines

A graded return to activity is strongly recommended after a concussion to identify any lingering symptoms and reduce the risk of reinjury, not only for concussions but also for musculoskeletal injuries. Below, you will find sport-specific guidelines for safely returning to play after a concussion. However, we highly recommend obtaining full clearance from an experienced concussion provider before resuming sports activities.

If you experience headaches, dizziness, or any other symptoms during the progression, it is crucial to halt exercise, allow 24 hours for recovery, and then resume activity at the previous symptom-free level.
