Drink Water, My Friend

Be Water

“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

― Bruce Lee

Guess what, we are water.

Our bodies are about 60% water with our brain and muscles consisting of 75% water.
Suggested water intake recommendations can range between 88 – 120 oz. per day depending on your sex and weight as well as other factors.
A simple estimation is half your body weight (pounds) in ounces a water spread throughout the day. For example a 200 lb. individual should drink 100 oz. per day (1 cup = 8oz).
These water intake recommendation can be higher when accounting for work/exercise/environmental heat resulting in significant sweat losses.

Adequate hydration benefits include:

  • Better athletic performance
  • Promotes healthy joints
  • Promotes healthy skin
  • Improves digestion and kidney health
  • Weight management
  • May decrease concussion risk and facilitate recovery
